Corporate Social Responsibility
The ROCKWOOL Group aims to be a good neighbour to its local communities, wider society and the global environment. It is a commitment that began in the 1950s, long before CSR became fashionable, and today it lies at the heart of the values of the ROCKWOOL Group. Furthermore, CSR is reported as part of the Annual report.
Taking responsibility locally
At a local level, we work closely with schools, councils and residents to keep communities informed about developments at all of our sites, and we make sure to keep noise or traffic from our activities to a minimum.
At our Bridgend plant, we’ve gone further, establishing the ROCKWOOL Woodland for Learning Trust which welcomes local schools to our onsite nature reserve.
Caring for our people
We don’t forget our employees either. Our recent loft insulation scheme enabled their homes to be upgraded to meet the latest building regulation requirements for free. Meanwhile, we’re proud to provide financial support to both local and national charities, including causes nominated every year by our employees.
The ROCKWOOL Foundation
Internationally, the ROCKWOOL Foundation, founded in 1981 by the Kähler family, supports scientific, humanitarian, artistic and social goals around the world. The Foundation’s research unit is probably Denmark’s most respected social and economic think tank. Its study of the Danish health system has been used by governments on both sides of the political spectrum to improve patient care.
Overseas, the not-for-profit organisation which controls around a quarter of the ROCKWOOL International’s shares has supported food security work in Tanzania, peace projects in Lebanon and help for AIDS orphans in Zambia.
